On Saturday, August 17, the Park will host its third annual Women in Motorsports High Performance Driving Introduction (HPDI) — a full-day event designed specifically for women, by women. The program offers female drivers of all experience levels a chance to learn performance driving techniques in a safe, fun, and empowering environment.

All participants need is a car, a helmet, and a willingness to learn.

“This event isn’t just about driving fast,” says Ashley White, Experiential Coordinator. “It’s about breaking barriers. Whether it’s your first time on a track or your hundredth, we’re here to support each other, grow together, and show that performance driving is for everyone.”

Women's HPDI

For Greg Waldron, Executive Director of the National Corvette Museum, this initiative is personal.

“I have raised three daughters,” Waldron says. “It’s important for me to a create an environment where women feel empowered— even behind the wheel at a racetrack. That’s why this program matters. It’s more than just a day at the track. It’s planting a seed of confidence, skill, and belonging.”

That sense of community is something Waldron sees every year.

“By the end of the day, people who walked in nervous are leaving with big smiles, new friends, and a whole new sense of what they’re capable of,” he says. “You hear ‘I didn’t know I could do this’ a lot — and then, ‘When can I come back?’”

An Invitation to Drive

Whether you’re a seasoned car enthusiast or a first-timer curious about the sport, the Women’s HPDI is open to all. The day includes lessons on:

  • Vehicle and safety equipment requirements
  • Performance driving fundamentals
  • Track communication, cornering, and car control
  • How to safely enjoy track time — and have fun doing it

The event also taps into something deeper than RPMs: confidence.

“We’ve created a space where women can step outside their comfort zone and find real joy in the process,” says White. “You learn about driving, sure. But you also learn something about yourself.”

Registration is now open for the August 17 event. For more information or to sign up, visit motorsportspark.org.
